Insulin degludec is an ultra-long-acting form of insulin used for the treatment of hyperglycemia caused by Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes. Marketed as the brand name product Tresiba by Novo Nordisk in 2015, insulin degludec has an added C-16 fatty acid on lysine at the B29 position which allows for the formation of multi-hexamers.
