8-arm PEG vinylsulfone (tripentaerythritol) is synthesized through ethoxylation of tripentaerythritol. It is a multifunctional PEG reagent with 8 thiol reactive vinylsulfone groups. VS selectively reacts with free thiol, sulfhydryl or mercapto groups for site specific pegylation of peptide and proteins. 8ARM(TP)-PEG with tripentaerythritol core has a higher purity and lower polydispersity compared with the generic 8ARM-PEG with a hexaglycerin core. The total molecular weight of 8-arm PEGs is the sum of the molecular weight of all eight arms.
